Cost of Operations

Years ago, my wife Aimee laid down the law concerning my hobbies.  They had to at least pay for them self or we simply can not afford them.  I love knife making, so we sell knives at the Kentucky Renaissance Festival and online at Renaissance Creations.  I love gardening, so we sell our produce online at Peppers By Mail.  Pagan Nation can be no different or we will go broke.

How Can You Help? – The best way to help is to purchase or upgrade your membership.  This way we can provide perks in exchange for your support.  You can purchase a membership or upgrade a free membership for as little as $10.00 a month.  With each new paid membership, we get closer and closer to paying expenses.  Who knows, if we have enough paid membership we might be able to hire folk to make the place really sing.

Current Costs of Operation

Hosting: This is something we can not do without.  Pagan Nation operates on a virtual private server.  It is not possible to offer what this service provides on a standard low fee shared hosting account.  Our monthly hosting fee changes depending on how much memory and cpu used.  Currently, that is tiny.  But the features we are adding will quickly consume more and more resources.  Our monthly hosting fees will rise dramatically in no time at all.

Donate towards my web hosting bill!

Click to Donate – If you would like to help, but a monthly membership is not your thing, you can donate directly to the folk who host our virtual private server.  We do not see this money.  Instead, donations made to this account are used to pay the monthly service free for hosting this service.

Software and Support – This is something that really helps, but it costs an additional $50.00 a month.  Pagan Nation is currently operated on an open source platform called WordPress.  That is a free software package, but it has limitations.  Some of the most important software to extend WordPress comes from WPMU Dev.  Maybe more important than that software is the 24 hour support that comes with the monthly membership.  Ah but it comes at a cost of $50.00 a month.  A very reasonable price for the support we receive, but still another expense.

Time to Maintain and Improve – Here is where people sometimes get persnickety.  But yes, maintaining a service of this size will consume a considerable amount of time.  While I would love to be able to do it for free, I do hope to earn at least minimum wage at some point.  If you think that is too much to hope for, please consider telling your boss you will work for free.
